Where the volume sits
The Kaze is wide where a harem pant should be and narrow where it should not be. The outer side seams curve outward through the hips and outer thighs, which gives the pant its balloon shape. From mid-calf the leg tapers into a slim ankle opening. A horizontal inset seam crosses the outer lower leg in that zone. We know this from the product photos rather than from a measured chart, because garment measurements are not available yet.
Waist, front and pockets
The waistband is fully elasticated and softly gathered, and the pant is pull-on. There is no zip and no button. The center front has a curved line of mock fly topstitching, which is there for the look of the front. Two slanted pockets sit at the hips. All the topstitching is tonal, so the pant has a plain surface with no metal hardware on it.
The cloth
The Kaze is cut from a woven cotton-linen with a visible slub and a matte, soft washed finish. It is regular thickness and non-stretch. It also has the natural crinkling you expect from linen, so do not buy it expecting a smooth, pressed surface. Because the cloth does not stretch, the room in this pant comes from the cut, and the only give is in the waistband.
Which size to pick
There is no size chart for this pant yet, so we cannot point you to a waist, hip or inseam figure. The one reference we have is the model: 175cm and 60kg, wearing size L (JP) in a proper fit. The seven sizes run from S (US) M (JP) to 4XL (US) 5XL (JP). The waist is elasticated and the hips are cut full, so the thing to watch is length: the pant is cropped, and on someone taller than 175cm more ankle will show. Returns are open for 14 days if the size is wrong. The return label is paid by the customer, and refunds go back to the original payment method.
Kaze or a straight-leg trouser?
A straight-leg trouser keeps the same width from knee to hem. The Kaze does not. It carries more volume at the hip and thigh, then narrows at the ankle, so it sits closer to a jogger in outline but without ribbing or a drawcord at the hem. If you want a clean, even leg, a straight cut is the better pick. If you like room at the top and a visible ankle, this is the shape.
Pros and cons
- Roomy through the hips and thighs, with a fully elasticated waist
- Narrow, clean ankle with no ribbing and no drawcord
- Two slanted pockets at the hips
- Five colors and seven sizes
- No stretch in the cloth, so the room comes only from the cut
- Cropped length shows the ankle, so it is not a full-length pant
- Linen creases naturally
- No size chart yet
Who it suits
It suits someone who wants an easy, loose pant for spring and summer and is happy to show the ankle. It is not for anyone who wants a straight, full-length leg, a working fly, or a stretch cloth.
