Design

Nobi comes from nobinobi, at ease. The room is in the hip and thigh, and the leg narrows steadily to the ankle so the pants end above the shoe instead of pooling over it. Two raised seams cross each leg in a V and do all the decorating, which leaves the cloth plain and the outfit quiet.

Description

Harem pants usually announce themselves. The Nobi keeps the shape and drops the noise: no print, no logo, no visible hardware. What you see is a silhouette that is full at the top and narrow at the bottom.

The room sits in the hip and thigh. From there the leg tapers steadily to the ankle, with no gathers or tucks at the hem, so the pants end above the shoe in a plain narrow opening. On the pair photographed that puts the hem at or just above the ankle bone.

Two raised seams cross each leg in a V, one running from the outer hip toward the inner knee and a second crossing it below the knee. They are the only decoration. A drawstring ties at the center front, slanted pockets sit at the hip, and two flat patch pockets sit at the back. The cloth is cotton with a fine, matte weave and medium stretch.

Roomy at the top, narrow at the ankle

The Nobi is built on contrast. It is full through the hip and thigh and clearly narrower at the ankle, with a steady taper between the two. Next to a straight-leg trouser at the same waist, it has more room where you sit and move, and less fabric at the bottom of the leg. The hem has no gathers, tucks or darts, so the narrowing comes from the cut itself.

On the pair photographed the length is ankle length, ending at or just above the ankle bone. Low shoes show, and the taper stays visible instead of bunching over them.

Two seams that do the work

Each front leg carries a raised seam that runs diagonally from the outer hip toward the inner knee. A second raised seam crosses it below the knee in the opposite direction, so the two form a V on the leg. The back of the leg has similar diagonal seam lines.

These are the entire decoration. There is no print, no embroidery and no visible label, so the seams give the leg a line to follow without anything loud.

Waist, pockets and rise

  • **Waist:** a drawstring tied at the center front, with cord ends and small tips. No visible buttons or zip.
  • **Rise:** mid-rise.
  • **Front pockets:** slanted at the side seam, so your hands go in on both sides.
  • **Back pockets:** two flat patch pockets, one on each side below the waist.

Cloth and stretch

The fabric is cotton at regular thickness, with a fine weave and a matte surface. On the white pair photographed it drapes softly and creases lightly at the thigh and knee. It has medium stretch, so there is give when you sit or climb stairs, but the looseness is cut into the pattern.

Choosing a size

The maker's notice says this style runs large. We have not published a measured chart for it, so we are not giving waist, hip or inseam figures. If you sit between two sizes, the smaller is the likelier fit, and the loose cut and stretch cover small differences either way.

The seven sizes are S (US) M (JP), M (US) L (JP), L (US) XL (JP), XL (US) 2XL (JP), 2XL (US) 3XL (JP), 3XL (US) 4XL (JP) and 4XL (US) 5XL (JP), so the range extends well into plus sizes.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits anyone who wants room through the hip and thigh without a wide leg all the way down, and who likes plain clothes with one line of detail. Pair it with a simple tee and low shoes.

It does not suit a slim or close fit through the thigh. It is also not the one to buy if you need measured numbers before ordering.

Colors

White, Khaki, Grey, Black, Blue and Sky blue. All are solid colors with no print. The photographs show the white pair, so judge cloth texture from that.

Answers

Questions, answered

What are harem pants?

Harem pants are cut full through the hip and thigh, with a leg that narrows to a small opening at the ankle. On the Nobi the hem is clearly narrower than the thigh, and the taper is gradual. There are no gathers, tucks or darts at the hem, so the leg reads as one clean line from hip to ankle.

Which size should I order?

The maker flags that this style runs large, so if you sit between two sizes, start with the smaller one. The cut is loose and the cloth has medium stretch, so there is some give either way. We have not published a measured chart for this style yet, so we are not quoting waist, hip or inseam numbers. The range is S (US) M (JP), M (US) L (JP), L (US) XL (JP), XL (US) 2XL (JP), 2XL (US) 3XL (JP), 3XL (US) 4XL (JP) and 4XL (US) 5XL (JP).

Do they come in plus sizes?

The range goes up to 4XL (US) 5XL (JP). The cut is loose through the hip and thigh and the cloth has medium stretch, which gives larger builds room without a baggy ankle.

What is the fabric like?

Cotton at regular thickness with a fine weave and a matte surface. On the white pair photographed it drapes softly and creases lightly at the thigh and knee. It has medium stretch, so it moves with you, though the looseness comes mostly from the cut.

How long are they?

On the pair photographed they are ankle length, ending at or just above the ankle bone so the shoes show. Because the leg tapers, the hem sits close to the ankle rather than breaking over the shoe.

How does the waist work?

A drawstring tied at the center front. There is no visible button or zip. The rise is mid, so they sit at the waist rather than low on the hip. Adjust the tie to set the fit.

What do the diagonal seams do?

A raised seam runs from the outer hip down toward the inner knee, and a second crosses it below the knee in the opposite direction. Together they form a V panel on each leg. They are visible detail that adds line without any hardware, print or branding. The back of the leg carries similar diagonal seams.

Do they have pockets?

Yes. Two slanted pockets at the front hip, where your hands go in on both sides, and two flat patch pockets on the back, one on each side below the waist.

Who are they not for?

If you want a slim thigh or a close fit through the hip, this is the wrong cut, because the room is the point. They also suit you less if you need a measured size chart before ordering, as we have not published one yet.

What do I wear them with?

Keep the top simple. The leg already has seam detail, so a plain tee does the job, as in the photographs with a black T-shirt. The ankle is exposed, so low shoes show the taper best.

Can I return them?

Yes, within 14 days. The return label is paid by the customer, and refunds go back to the original payment method.
