Take your usual size. On our 180cm, 70kg fit model it fits true to size, with the relaxed, boxy shape intended. Our size guide gives chest, shoulder, sleeve and length for every size.

Does it run small or large?

It runs true to size. The cut is already relaxed and boxy, so there is no need to size up.

What size for my weight?

As a guide: S (US) M (JP) for 50-62.5kg, M (US) L (JP) for 63-70kg, L (US) XL (JP) for 70.5-77.5kg, XL (US) 2XL (JP) for 78-87.5kg and 2XL (US) 3XL (JP) for 88-95kg.

Seersucker is a cloth woven with a puckered surface. On the Awa it forms a fine grid of small raised bumps, which keeps the shirt off the skin and lets air move.

Is it good for hot weather?

Yes. The cloth is lightweight, breathable and quick-dry, and the puckers stop it clinging when you sweat.

No. The seersucker has no stretch; the room comes from the boxy cut and the side slits.

Does it need ironing?

No. The puckered texture is the finish, so creases blend in.

A short placket with metal snaps at the collar. There are no buttons to work.

Materials & Care

Hand Wash or Use Delicate Cycle: To keep your Kunoji gear in top shape, handle it with care. Hand washing is best, but if you use a washing machine, choose the delicate cycle with cold water. For embroidered and printed items, turn them inside out to protect the designs.
Use Mild Detergent: Avoid harsh detergents, fabric softeners, and bleach, as they can damage the fabrics. Stick to mild detergent for gentle cleaning.
Air Dry: Skip the dryer after washing. Lay your Kunoji pieces flat or hang them to air dry. Keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Store Carefully: To maintain the shape, fold your Kunoji items neatly and store them in a drawer or on a hanger. Keep them away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Don't forget to Iron: Many Kunoji items, especially those made from cotton and linen, tend to wrinkle. Iron on the flip side using low heat. For embroidered and printed items, iron inside out with a cloth between the iron and fabric to protect the designs.

Awa is the Japanese word for foam, the small bubbles that rise on water. The cloth here has the same idea built in: a fine grid of puckers that holds it off the skin, dries fast and never needs an iron.

Description

Seersucker that breathes

The cloth is lightweight seersucker woven with a fine grid of puckers. It holds the shirt away from the skin, dries quickly and stays matte, so it looks crisp on a warm day and creases from a bag disappear into the texture.

A boxy, easy cut

The shoulders drop and the body falls straight from the chest, with wide short sleeves and plain hems. Small side slits at the hip-length hem give room when you walk and let it sit well worn out.

Collar and placket

A flat self-fabric collar with pointed tips and topstitched edges keeps the polo shape. The short placket closes with metal snaps and ends in a stitched triangle tab.

What a seersucker polo does

A mens seersucker polo shirt is woven with a puckered surface, so it touches the skin at fewer points than a flat knit. On the Awa the puckers form a fine grid: the shirt stays off the body, air moves underneath and it dries fast.

Seersucker or a knit polo

A knit polo drapes closer to the body and stretches. The Awa is crisper and has no stretch, so it keeps its boxy line and does not cling in heat. It is not the choice if you want a slim, fitted polo.
